A look back at the Ankarlift windlass and its legacy

Båtsystem, a leader in marine solutions, has a long history of innovation. In the early 2000s, we acquired the rights to the Ankarlift, a promising prototype from a Swedish inventor. Recognizing its potential, our team dedicated significant time and resources to transforming it into a complete and robust product. We refined the design, optimized its performance, and ensured it met the high standards boaters demand, quickly making it one of our most popular and reliable windlasses on the market.

The QL Ankarlift: A landmark collaboration with Volvo Penta

The success of the Ankarlift led to a landmark partnership with Volvo Penta, a true testament to the product’s quality and our engineering expertise. As one of our largest customers, Volvo Penta selected the windlass to be included in their prestigious QL collection, known for its “Quality Line” of premium marine accessories. The Ankarlift was rebranded as the QL Ankarlift, solidifying its reputation for excellence. The final delivery of the windlass to Volvo Penta and other resellers in Sweden took place in 2010.

Discontinuation of spare parts manufacturing

As a product lifecycle evolves, so does the support for it. Over the past decade, the market has shifted, and the technology within newer windlasses has advanced significantly. This, coupled with a steady decrease in demand for Ankarlift components, has made it increasingly challenging for our sub-suppliers to continue production. After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cease manufacturing certain spare parts for the Ankarlift series. Unfortunately, this means we can no longer guarantee a complete range of spare parts for all Ankarlift models.

While we are moving forward with new innovations, we remain committed to supporting our existing customers. We understand the importance of keeping your equipment in working order.

Finding support and documentation

Even though parts manufacturing has stopped, we still have resources available to help you maintain your Ankarlift windlass:
